It's Summertime Really!

I am three weeks within my summer vacation.  It is suppose to be a time of relaxation and lazy days.  I do get a nap in during the day but I am on a quest.  I am looking for new ideas to energize my library program and my librarian career.
I started this quest looking into Personal Learning Networks.  The more I researched about PLN's the more I realized I was missing out on untapped resources.  So I decided to join Twitter and Classroom 2.0.  I thought I already have a Facebook page why do I need another social network to manage.  These two social networks are proving to be beneficial.  I am learning a lot from a network of educators, librarians and technology integrators.
I also decided to blog about my quest.  While I was creating my blog, I was looking at what other librarians were blogging about.  I instantly became a blog stalker.  I would read one librarian's blog and that would lead me to another fabulous blog.  I am eager to learn about lessons, technology and new books.
While I was reading different blogs, I came across an interesting article written by Librarygirl.  She wrote about the Zombie Apocalypse.  After reading the article, I quickly discovered  that I was becoming a Zombie Librarian and I had to change.  Life in the library was getting comfortable and easy and it is time to do something different.  I need to do something different.
My quest is just beginning and I am loving the adventure.  Now I spend my mornings and afternoons, reading blogs, articles posted on Twitter and joining free webinars. (I still get my nap in on occasion.)  I check Twitter just as much as I check Facebook.  I am getting organized and inspired.  My students are in for a great adventure and I can't wait.  I am learning lots of new ideas this summer from this great network of librarians.  This quest is going to be awesome!

My First Blog Post

I am so excited about my new adventures at Sandston Elementary.  My plan and goal is to step up my game as a teacher-librarian.  This blog will be a place for me to record my new experiences, share my love for books and collaboration, and reflect on this transformation.  I also would like for this to be a place where the world can see what we do in the library.  We are much more than books.
